Google is expected to announce the new Nexus devices, LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P, at its event in San Francisco on Tuesday, September 29. But beyond the devices themselves, Android fans seem to be more excited about the rollout of the latest version of the OS.
Leaked software schedule from Canadian mobile service provider Telus revealed that Google is planning to roll out Android 6 Marshmallow to both the LG Google Nexus 5x and Huawei Google Nexus 6p starting from Monday, October 5 as an OTA update.
Telus had listed the release date for the next Android update for the two previous generation Nexus smartphones on its ‘Software Update Schedule’ page. As soon as the media picked up on the news, the telecom carrier updated the page removing the mention of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, but not before Mobilesyrup managed to get a screenshot of the list of the devices posted.

According to this software release schedule, following the event on September 29, Google will be ready to roll out Android 6 Marshmallow to the older Nexus devices in less than a week. Previous years have seen the rollout of the new Android version for previous generation Nexus devices almost a month after the launch of new Nexus devices, so if Telus’ post was accurate, Google has sped up its rollout cycle.
However, it should be noted here that October 5th is only the day when the update will start rolling out, not when all the devices would receive it. The information shared above appears to be three months old, but the source claims that it’s been recently updated.
