1. Kabir Khan, played by Shah Rukh Khan in Chak De! India

Kabir Khan is shown to be the former Indian hockey player who gets banished from the society and the hockey team for being accused of losing the match deliberately to Pakistan. As a result, he is forced to leave his ancestral house with his mother. Seven years later, he gets a chance to prove himself, and volunteers to coach the female Indian hockey team.

The film Chak De! is an inspiring story of how he pulls the entire team together, brings out the best in them and assists them in bringing the World Cup home. 2. Shashi Godbole, played by Sridevi in English Vinglish

Shashi is like any other Indian housewife, who has only two things to worry about— her husband and her kids. Played by Sridevi, this is the story of Shashi Godbole discovering herself and showing her family that she can achieve anything; all she needs to do is focus on herself.

Her husband and daughter make fun of her and look down upon her since she can’t speak English. Upon getting a chance to visit the US, she decides to learn English and surprise them. This is the story of an everyday housewife who believes in herself and shows everyone what she’s worth.

3. Bunny, played by Ranbir Kapoor in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Bunny is an ambitious man who only cares about one thing— his career. He has a dream to travel the world at any cost, and he achieves that. Even though he hails from an average middle-class family, he leaves no stone unturned to turn his dream into reality. He is so driven by his dreams that he leaves his friends and family behind for achieving them.

He shows what living your life to the fullest really means and how hard work can take you places, literally.

4. Shivani Shivaji Roy, played by Rani Mukerji in Mardaani

Played by Rani Mukerji, Shivani Shivaji Rao is a Mumbai-based cop who is fearless and believes in only one thing–justice. This brave IPS officer fights against a male-dominated society to ensure justice prevails. She takes it upon herself to find and destroy a major child-trafficking racket and in this journey she gets to face a lot of traumatic situations.

But nothing seems to shake her determination, and she finally succeeds in her mission.

5. Zeenat, played by Gul Panag in Dor

Zeenat is an independent Muslim woman who wants to save her husband from getting executed due to murder charges of a Hindu man. She gets to know that there’s only one way of stopping the execution— a letter from the widow of the dead man forgiving him for the guilt. That’s when Zeenat sets on this journey to find the dead man’s widow to get the letter from her.

Although she goes through a lot during her journey, she succeeds in getting the letter and also befriends the widow and takes her away from her otherwise sad life.

6. Karan Shergill, played by Hrithik Roshan in Lakshya

Karan Shergill is a directionless person who has no idea of what he’s doing with his life and what he wants to pursue a career in. He often gets scolded from his dad, who thinks his son is useless and will never be able to stand on his feet.

After a lot of struggle, Karan finally finds out what inspires him the most— the army. He joins the army and makes his parents and friends proud. His journey from being the aimless college pass out to a responsible and fearless army man is quite inspiring.
