The social networking giant, Facebook celebrated its 12th birthday on 4th February. We decided to dive into some lesser-known facts to keep things interesting.

1. Founded in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg and his Harvard college friends, Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes, Facebook today is the world’s most popular social networking site with over 1.18 billion active users all over the world.

2. The Like button in Facebook began in 2007 and was originally going to be called the “Awesome” button.

3. Every day around 6,00,000 hacking attempts are made on Facebook accounts.

4. Before a redesign on 2007, Facebook’s main page used to feature American actor Al Pacino’s face, partially covered with a cloud of binary code.
